WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE HOME

Longing to get away from the bustle of city life? Or to retire in a peaceful, quiet but fun environment? Looking for country living at its best and living a rural lifestyle?

Check out this lovely 3,100 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 2.75 bath country home with panoramic green rural Oregon views. This spacious home has major upgrades and remodels in newer countertops, newer carpet and vinyl, wood-look flooring, newer roof, siding and exterior and interior paint, newer back deck, new dishwasher and new hot water heater. There are two fireplaces and a front deck. There is a completely rewired and like new stove and new drapes throughout. The attached double garage has been remodeled and there is attractive and well-maintained mature landscaping.

There is a market, restaurant, US post office and community church nearby. One of Oregon’s best charter school systems is available for students to attend in Elkton. And, the beautiful Oregon Coast is 18 miles away.

The Umpqua River is a stone’s throw from this unique property. The Umpqua River is famous for year around fishing that includes spring and fall salmon fishing of both Chinook and Coho, steelhead trout, bass and more. If you want to retire to a fishing lifestyle this is the place!

Along with this beautiful home is a small business that provides income that covers all of the owner’s living expenses including utilities, repair, maintenance, major appliances, yard care and more. Live the rural lifestyle at no out of pocket cost!

Included in the 3.4 acres are a 4 space RV park, one additional RV or MH space and 9 manufactured home spaces. All spaces are fully developed with full hookups. The income also covers utilities, maintenance, yard work and repair for the business side of this property. A newer state-of-the-art water system has been installed and is easy to maintain annually. The entire park has also been rewired/upgraded. There is an artist painted sign at the entrance, a pump house, a shop and two storage sheds.

The ground and plants are well-maintained and beautiful. Rhododendrons, roses and more. The Myrtlewood tree grows only on the Oregon Coast and in Israel. They grow here at Umpqua River Haven with their sweet-smelling flowers! Blackberries border the property on two sides and are ripe for picking during the season. Well managed blueberry bushes provide abundant fruit during the summer season and are delicious. Grape vines border one part of the West fence and can also be harvested.

Half of the property is available to be developed into additional manufactured home spaces. This land could also be used to grow veggies, grapes and a wide variety of berries for the owner and/or community tables.

One of the more exciting aspects of living here at Umpqua River Haven is its proximity to the Oregon Coast. The coast has so much to offer in the way of ocean scenery and things to do. Whale watching has two seasons and it is definitely exciting when you spot your first whale from shore. There are also whale watching excursions out of Depot Bay which is an easy day trip.

Tide pooling is a very popular, fun thing to do with the entire family. When the tide goes out it leaves behind a multitude of sea creatures to view, such as sea stars in many colors including purple, sea anemones, Turban Snails, mussels and more. A fun thing to do, along with a great eating treat, is to go clamming in the bays when the tied is out. Grab some boots, a shovel and a bucket to dig for your very fresh, yummy supper!

There are many places to go to view seals and sea lions in the wild. They are fun creatures to watch and will surprise you with their antics. One of our favorite things to do is crabbing for Dungeness Crab. Some places you can go crabbing AND watch the sea lions lolling on the rocks. There is no better eating than fresh-caught Dungeness!

Then there are the sand dunes. The Oregon Coast is famous for its sand dunes and there are many activities to participate in such as riding the dunes, hiking the dunes and sledding the dunes. We took our grandkids to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area one day with a saucer-sled and watched them zoom down the dunes. They loved it and didn’t even mind the climb back up.

Hiking is a favorite activity on the Oregon Coast. Besides dune hiking, there are a variety of trails in, around and near the many small lakes on the coast. Our favorite hike is at Eel Lake. The trail follows the lake shore so you always have a view of the lake as you hike. Near www.umpquahaven.com are some great hikes. Ask the owners about the timber road and Mill Creek hikes.

And don’t forget all of the exquisite and historic Oregon Coast Lighthouses. Climb to the top for fantastic views and learn the history of each one. Some of them have interesting haunted history stories and are believed to be haunted still.

If you visit our blog @ www.umpquariverhaven.com, you will find all of these things and more. Just type what you are looking for into the search bar. Or just peruse around the blog site. We write about other adventures, but mostly about the Umpqua River and our beautiful Oregon Coast.

Living at Umpqua River Haven is quiet, calm, serene and exciting all at the same time. We are protected from the winter coast weather in this most gorgeous river valley and yet just a 20-minute drive along the Umpqua to get to the coast.

As owners of this beautiful, unique property we had planned to retire here. However, our families live out-of-state and we feel the need to be closer to them. You must see our beautiful home in order to fully appreciate the beauty, serenity and relaxed lifestyle that wait for you here at Umpqua River Haven.
