In 2008, Caterpillar Inc. made the decision to consolidate its manufacturing operations in a 1,000,000 sf plant. The plant opened in 2010 and employs over 1,100 people. Continental Automotive also has a large presence in Seguin, with a manufacturing plant that employs approximately 1,300 people and has plans to employ 300 more. The City has experienced an average 1.44% annual increase in population between 2000 and 2010.

Seguin is expected to benefit from the new SH 130 corridor. The corridor will extend 91 miles to connect Seguin to Austin, TX. This corridor will be the only alternative to IH-35 for travel between Austin and San Antonio.

Jake's is located within walking distance from the proposed Seguin Commerce Center, a Master-Planned 545 acre Mixed-Use industrial park. The Seguin Commerce Center will also include hiking & biking trails and recreational parks. An access road, connecting the center to IH-10 has been proposed.
